hiring range for this position is $167,000 - $205,000/year. We also

by the Special Projects team includes but is not limited to: the
Colorado Convention Center Expansion, 16th Street Mall
Reconstruction, East Colfax Avenue Bus Rapid Transit Project, and
the Waterway Resiliency Program.The Deputy Director for the Special
Projects and Initiatives Division will have a unique and empowered
role focusing on two general aspects of our business: (1)
supporting or leading efficient and effective delivery of projects
and programs, and (2) supporting the organizational management of
the Division. The Deputy will report directly to the Director and
will provide leadership, coordination, and support for the
management of projects and programs being implemented by this
team.Specifically, as the Deputy Director, you will:
- Support or lead program and project management work on large,
complex, multi-disciplinary, alternative/collaborative delivery
capital projects.
- Support or lead the development of pre-bid materials defining
scope, schedule, budget and related information necessary for
request for qualifications and request for proposals.
- Develop goals, document performance, provide performance
feedback and formally evaluate the work of direct reports.
- Communicate annual work plans to employees and ensure employees
are focused on the work plan and achieving performance
standards.
- Create and administer work group procedures to promote
consistency, as appropriate, and recommend and implement process
improvements and policies for work group(s).
- Monitor and direct daily operations to ensure policies and
procedures are correctly interpreted and followed by Division
staff.
- Champion continuous improvement including devising new
strategies and opportunities.
- Represent the work area(s)/division in meetings with elected
and/or appointed officials and other city entities.
- Help promote collaboration with key project and program
partners.What You'll BringThe successful candidate is a leader
skilled in managing large project and program teams through highly
visible and political efforts.Our ideal candidate has some or all
the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
- Collaborative/alternative project delivery experience.
- Preconstruction experience, including a solid understanding of
cost estimating, scheduling, and experience leading development of
construction contracts.
- Experience with strategic planning for program and project
lifecycles.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with diverse
audiences.
- Operational experience managing a capital project delivery
organization.Required Minimum Qualifications
- Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or
Architecture.
- Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the
type and level of functional or operational management, which must
have included supervising licensed engineers or architects.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of
application.
- Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the
Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at
the time of application.
- Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition
