Compensation: Compensation is dependent on experience and ranges
from $25-$27 hourly.
Position Summary:
The Sustainability Coordinator at the Colorado Convention Center
will support the execution of sustainability initiatives and
programs across the facility. This role will assist in the
day-to-day coordination of environmental efforts, focusing on
energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, and
sustainable event practices. The Sustainability Coordinator will
work closely with internal teams, event organizers, and external
partners to promote sustainable operations and help achieve the
convention center's sustainability goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Sustainability Programs:
- Assist the operations team and sustainability contractor in
implementing the venue's sustainability strategy, with a focus on
waste diversion, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
- Coordinate daily operational sustainability initiatives, ensuring
alignment with the Colorado Convention Center's sustainability
goals.
Waste Diversion & Recycling:
- Help manage the facility's recycling, composting, and donation
programs.
- Track waste diversion efforts, collecting data on recycling and
composting rates, and provide regular updates to the operations
team.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve waste reduction
and diversion processes.
- Manage the venue donation program, coordinating with event
organizers and local organizations.
Sustainable Events Support:
- Work with event organizers and clients to integrate sustainable
practices into events, including green purchasing, waste reduction,
and carbon footprint tracking.
- Provide sustainability guidance to clients, helping them adopt
best practices for sustainable event management.
Data Collection & Reporting:
- Collect, track, and analyze sustainability data related to energy
use, water consumption, waste diversion, and carbon emissions.
- Assist in preparing reports on sustainability metrics for
internal and external stakeholders, highlighting progress and areas
for improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a point of contact for staff, clients, and vendors on
sustainability-related questions.
- Assist in coordinating sustainability training and awareness
programs for staff and event organizers.
- Coordinate and lead the Earth Day Festival each year
Compliance & Certifications Support:
- Help maintain compliance with local, state, and federal
environmental regulations.
- Assist in gathering information for sustainability certifications
such as LEED, EIC, and contribute to the ongoing certification
process.
Event Support & Coordination:
- Provide on-site support during events to ensure that
sustainability practices, such as waste diversion and energy-saving
measures, are effectively implemented.
- Assist in setting up and managing sustainability-focused event
elements, such as recycling stations and signage.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D., required
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a
related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
1-2 years of experience in sustainability coordination or a related
field, preferably in a large venue, facility, or event setting.
Knowledge of sustainability practices in waste management, energy
efficiency, and water conservation.
Knowledge of Denver's sustainability initiatives and local
environmental regulations, preferred.
Experience working with sustainability certifications like LEED,
EIC for Venues, or ISO 20121, preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to prioritize tasks and to organize time to complete tasks
in scheduled times.
Excellent customer service and public relations skills
Must be able to execute tasks in an ethical and fair manner
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the
ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible to change
Excellent record of dependability and reliability
Ability to speak, understand, and read standard English
Computer Skills:
Ability to use all office equipment and computer software
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be
proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Basic data analysis and reporting skills to track sustainability
performance metrics.
Proficiency in sustainability tracking software, preferred.

radio usage -- 2 way hand held.
