Job Description:
Represents the interests of the policyholder in defending claims
or asserting claims against others as authorized, ensuring that
there is no conflict of interest between the policyholder and the
Company. Participates in training Claims personnel regarding
coverage and litigation issues as requested. Reviews case law and
statutory changes to maintain current knowledge of the law and to
foresee legal trends.This role will work remotely from home, in
Colorado.What You'll Do:As a Senior Trial Attorney for Sentry
Insurance you'll represent the interests of the policy holder in
defending claims or ascertain claims against others, ensuring there
is no conflict between the policyholder and the company. In
addition, you'll:
- Handle a caseload of diverse matters that range in varying
degrees of complexity within the proper civil procedures of the
courts
- Prepare pleadings, discovery, discovery responses, motions, and
correspondence, as well as prepare reports and coordinate with
Claims in the investigation of facts
- Conduct and defend depositions, conduct legal research, attend
all pre-trial hearings, participate in case evaluations with Claims
and prepare cases for trial
- Develop strategy for the trial, arranging for witnesses to be
present and demonstrative evident to be presented.
- Work towards the resolution of cases without trial
- Take cases through trial when warranted and act as first chair
trial attorney
- Develop and maintain all strategies from pre through post trial
and conduct appeals when appropriate
- Participate in training Claims personnel regarding litigation
issues as requested
- Review case law and statutory changes to maintain current
knowledge of the law and to foresee legal trendsWhat it Takes:
- 5 years of related work experience with a minimum of four years
trial experience, including complex litigation, preferably in
insurance defense
- Strong academic background and a JD Degree from an American Bar
Association-accredited law school
- License to practice law, in good standing, in the state of
Colorado
- Proven ability to present complex concepts analytically and
logically
- Excellent communication skills with those inside and outside
the organization
- Five years of related work experience with a minimum of four
years trial experience, preferably in insurance defenseWhat You'll

- Based on experience and qualifications, the pay range for this
