Job Description:
As a Senior Associate Project Developer at Scout, you will
support the New Projects Team in the early-stage development of
multiple wind, solar, and battery storage projects. Your day-to-day
responsibilities will include the following:Project Management
- Support the assessment of projects' viability using analytical
tools and market research, including leveraging an internal GIS
prospecting tool.
- Coordinate the development of and tracking project viability,
timelines, and documentation. Present summaries to project team
members and coordinate with subject matter experts to advance the
project to the point of hand-off to our West and East Region
Development teams.
- Support in-the-field activities including site diligence,
landowner engagement and lease negotiations, and community
engagement.Finance and Commercial Matters
- Help obtain the inputs for the project screening and initial
financial models from subject matter experts and review with the
project team. Start to learn the ability to identify fatal
flaws.
- Initiate and deliver analytical support for negotiations. Lead
negotiations for select commercial matters. Develop tools to handle
a range of negotiating situations.Stakeholder Relationships and
Real Estate
- Learn to interface with landowners, community members, and
community leaders to drive project and collective success.
- Provide analytical and field support to identify landowners,
cultivate fruitful relationships, and negotiate site control
agreements.
- Frequent travel to prospective and active project sites to
assess opportunities and acquire valuable land rights.GIS
- Conduct extensive GIS-based analysis to identify and diligence
potential opportunities and constraints for wind, solar, and
battery storage projects.Permitting (local, state, federal) and
Taxes
- Analyze location-specific permitting and tax requirements to
assess whether the project is feasible. Understand and identify
risks associated with specific tax and permitting processes and
suggest resolutions to obstacles.
- Coordinate the studies required to assess project viability.
Build out a competitive analysis and understand how other
competitors can impact projects.Engineering Design, Technology, and
Construction
- Provide information to the Engineering team to support the
interconnection and early-stage design process; monitor timelines
and coordinate adherence.
- Gather information about site and system design alternatives by
collaborating with other internal teams and conducting independent
research as needed.
- Foundational understanding of the construction and operation of
wind, solar, and/or battery storage and different processes and
technologies utilized.Internal (Teamwork)
- Leverage relationships with peers and more senior team members
in other groups to drive project and collective success.
- Receive and provide productive feedback effectively and
demonstrate the ability to make changes based on feedback.
- Identify and elevate potential issues or concerns to the
appropriate more senior staff. Address an increasing range of
issues independently.
- Identify and address gaps in knowledge needed to address core
business issues and commonly encountered issues and concerns.
Ensure your work has zero errors prior to sharing with team
members.
- During project handoff, coordinate data and documentation
management between the Development teams and other internal and
external parties.Advance Scout
- Conduct analysis and solicit input needed from other teams to
inform your group's strategy.
- Deliver the goals you set annually with your manager.
- Embody and model Scout's mission and values in all
interactions.You will join the New Projects team, reporting
directly to a Regional Director of New Projects. You will work in
parallel with other project developers who have responsibility for
other geographic regions, sharing knowledge and providing support
as needed.Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college program.
- 1-2 years of wind, solar, and/or energy storage development
experience.
- Self-motivator with exceptional communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a
fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and
complete time-sensitive duties.
- Excitement and enthusiasm in learning how to become a Project
Developer.
- Salesforce, ArcGIS, Excel, PowerPoint, Word proficiency.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without
Sponsorship.
- Willing and available to travel significantly as needed
(25%-60%) depending on project needs.Organizational Fit

Salary$90,000-$110,000Attractive bonus potential.Scout offers a
