is recruiting a Trauma Surgeon to join our team! Physicians and
surgeons diagnose illnesses, prescribe and administer treatment,
and maintain appropriate follow up for people suffering from injury
and/or disease. Physicians examine patients, obtain medical
histories, and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
Surgeons specialize in the treatment of injury, disease, and
deformity through operations. This position is associated with a
faculty appointment at the University of Colorado School of
Medicine.
- The Ernest E. Moore Shock Trauma Center at Denver Health is an
internationally renowned, American College of Surgeons Level I
adult and Level II pediatric trauma center, with over 3,000 patient
evaluations annually. Among other services, the trauma center
specializes in chest wall reconstruction, retrograde balloon
occlusion of the aorta, and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation.
The Trauma Center is actively engaged in a number of research
projects, and publishes over 200 peer reviewed articles
annually.The Denver Health Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a
twenty-three-bed intensive care unit staffed by surgeons who are
board certified in surgical critical care. Patient acuity is high
and involves derangement of multiple organ system simultaneously.
Attending on both trauma and SICU services involves serving as
faculty for both our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Surgical
Critical Care Fellowships.The Emergency General Surgery (EGS)
Service at Denver Health performs over 1,000 operations annually,
maintains an average daily census of fourteen patients, and spans
all aspects and scope within this field. The EGS service is
currently attended by six trauma surgeons, three general surgeons,
and our two, second years TACS fellows. The service engages in
classic EGS, as well as emerging techniques such as minimally
invasive treatments of diverticulitis and perforated peptic ulcers,
endo luminal stents and vacuum therapy (endo-VAC), and
laparoscopic, trans cystic common bile duct clearance. Other areas
of focus include esophageal perforation, management of bariatric
complications (in conjunction with our accredited bariatric
center), and both thoracic and lumbar spine exposure.Denver Health
serves as a satellite site for several fellowships, residency
programs, and medical schools; education of residents is a core

include: Attending on trauma service weeks, SICU weeks, EGS service
weeks and in-house, weeknight and weekend trauma/ICU/EGS surgery
call, elective general surgery practice including elective clinics,
operating room blocks, outreach, and program development, inpatient
general surgery consultations.2.Physicians at Denver Health are
faculty members of the University of Colorado School of Medicine
serve as teachers for students seeking clinical experience at
Denver Health and provide education for post graduate medical

Experience1.Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and
completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for
specialist, or equivalent. Two year surgical critical care & trauma
and acute care surgery fellowship preferred.2. Board Certification
or Board Eligibility in 1) General Surgery and 2) Surgical Critical
Care.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1.Knowledge of and ability to
apply professional medical principles, procedures and
techniques.2.Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in
patient treatment.3.Able to effectively manage and direct medical
staff support activities while providing quality medical
care.4.Able to receive detailed information through oral
communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal
communications.5.Excellent written and verbal communications,
listening, and social skills.6.Able to interact effectively with
people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds,
skill levels and value systems.7.Performs in a tactful and
