This team develops sophisticated tools like Checkr Assess, designed for high-volume hiring environments to streamline talent evaluation and refine processes, minimizing human error and bias. These solutions empower adjudicators with intelligent, rules-based adjudication and advanced case management capabilities, enhancing compliance and consistency. They also include features like Candidate Stories, allowing candidates to provide additional context, and Adverse Action workflows to ensure fair and compliant decision-making. As the Engineering Manager, you will be in charge of shaping the technical strategy and overseeing project delivery, while fostering professional development within your team. Additionally, you will engage with major customers to ensure our adjudication tools significantly improve hiring efficiency and compliance, helping businesses make fast, informed, and safe hiring decisions.What you'll do:

• Drive technical vision for the team that motivates and excites the team for the next chapter
• Partner closely with product management to build new features and enhance existing ones
• Work with the team to reduce technical debt and sustainably scale our architecture
• Build relationships with customers and drive results with them
• Nurture and grow team members based on their career aspirations
• Hire best of the talent and continue to raise the bar for the team
• Represent the team in planning and product meetings
• Optimize engineering processes and policies to drive velocity and qualityWhat you bring:
  • 4+ years as an engineering manager
  • 8+ years as an engineer
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Experience managing quality incidents as both a technical lead and communication lead
  • Experience working on products at scale, and understanding the data, legal, human impact, and technical nuances of supporting highly regulated products
  • Strong experience with TDD, pair programming, and agile methodologies
  • Deep understanding of service architecture and system design as well as lean software development principles
  • Ability to make high-level prioritization decisions quickly and thoughtfully
  • Backbone to make tough decisions when necessary
  • Able to develop inclusive teams to foster growth and diversity
  • Ready to mentor the team to grow by providing stretch assignments and opportunities relevant to their interests
