Job Duties and Responsibilities

DISH is looking for an experienced Big Data Engineer to join our team. This engineer will be p art of the Big Data Ops team responsible for developing, maintaining, testing, analyzing, and evaluating data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on process improvement and come up with process and cost savings
• Evangelist for data engineering function leveraging Big Data framework
• Monitoring data pipeline
• Support our software engineers and data scientists
• Contribute to our cloud strategy based on prior experience
• Independently work with all stakeholders across
  Skills, Experience and Requirements
  
  Experience:
  
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Big Data applications design, development, and implementation
  • At least 3 years of Cloud experience
  • 5+ years of SQL experience, prefer Hive/Impala framework including SQL performance tuning
    
    Skills and Qualifications:
    
    • Solid understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, and knowledge on a variety of databases such as Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server, Postgres etc
    • Experience with schedulers such as Control-M
    • Experience in maintaining streaming jobs (producers/consumers) using Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis
    • Unix Shell Scripting, SQL scripting
    • Prefer experience in production support for Big data pipelines, MapReduce framework, Oozie workflows, and scoop Jobs
    • Prefer experience in AWS services such as EMR, Glue, S3, Athena, DynamoDB, IAM, Lambda, Cloudwatch
      Salary Ranges
      
      Compensation: $96,250.00/Year - $137,500.00/Year

      The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
