information.
We are Rocky Mountain Prep, a movement comprised of incredible
educators, families, scholars, and advocates who are changing the
face of public education in Colorado by democratizing college
access and preparation for historically marginalized students and
families. On paper, we are a network of twelve college preparatory
charter schools in the Denver metro area serving students as young
as twelve weeks through twelfth grade.
But we are so much more than this.
During the 2024-2025 school year, RMP is driving after five big
goals:
85% Staff Retention
100% of campuses going green & ECE-2nd grade students growing an
average of 1.25 years in math and reading
100% of seniors accepted into college
40% of 3rd-8th grade students meet their Accelerated Reader
millionaire goal
RMP meets its network enrollment goal
Role Mission
At RMP, we don't just teach English-we teach students to think
critically, communicate effectively, and see the power of their own
voices. The knowledge-building curriculum you deliver doesn't just
impact your classroom-it strengthens students' success across all
subjects by building essential background knowledge, vocabulary,
and critical thinking skills that enhance comprehension and
engagement in other areas. At the heart of this work is a
commitment to fostering a lifelong love of literature and
information gathering, reading, writing, and inspiring students to
see themselves as thinkers, creators, and learners. By bringing the
curriculum to life, you'll offer students "windows and mirrors" to
explore diverse perspectives while reflecting on their identities.
This foundation is critical for preparing students to meet and
exceed the college-ready benchmark on Evidence-Based Reading and
Writing on the SAT in high school. This role transforms lives,
ensures every lesson has purpose and fun, and is connected to their
future success.
All Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will:
Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to
guide your teaching, maximizing instructional time, re-teaching
where needed, and promoting outstanding scholar growth and
proficiency.
Take ownership of your professional growth by actively engaging in
regular coaching, being open to feedback, and commitment to
continuous improvement.
Be consistently punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching
sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations (such
as PD, parent-teacher conferences, etc).
Build a strong, inclusive classroom culture where scholars thrive
through proactive routines, culturally responsive structures, and
restorative practices that foster belonging.
Foster strong relationships with families through consistent
communication, home visits, and engagement in school events,
embracing each family's unique perspectives and promoting inclusion
and diversity
Model and embody RMP's PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence,
Adventure, and Kindness) in all interactions with scholars,
families, and staff.
Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and
support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted
interventions for all students.
Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives,
professional development, and student and staff recruitment
efforts.
Support school operations by assisting with daily duties such as
arrival, dismissal, and lunch, ensuring a smooth, safe, and
organized learning environment.
RMP is fast-paced and data-driven. Your role combines clear
expectations but also requires flexibility to adapt and contribute
to our evolving Concept Essence.
ELA Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will...
Read and fall in love with the unit texts: Cultivate a deep
enthusiasm for the texts you teach, as your passion will be
integral in students connecting to and engaging with the material
on a deeper level.
Write grade-level exemplars of writing tasks, diagnose writing, and
efficiently give batch feedback: Guided by your clear, high-quality
writing exemplars for students, diagnose writing challenges, and
deliver timely, efficient batch feedback that supports students in
improving their writing.
Be a scholar of the Common Core Standards: Understand the
grade-level expectations outlined in the Common Core Standards,
using them to define your bar of rigor.
Be a scholar of the Science of Reading: Immerse yourself in the
Science of Reading to improve your approach to literacy instruction
continuously. Use evidence-based strategies for building knowledge,
enhancing vocabulary, and ensuring comprehension, with a special
focus on fostering a love of language and words.
Champion our Accelerated Reading Goal: Model and support students
in achieving our goal of reading 2 million words. Do this by being
knowledgeable about their progress and celebrating milestones along
the way. Help students understand how reading widely and frequently
increases their comprehension of other texts.
Champion our Reading Academy program: Whether it's teaching Reading
Academy during a flood block or staying abreast of students' growth
in their foundational reading skills, support students in becoming
confident and capable readers.
