Job DescriptionABOUT THE JOB:The Perioperative Education Specialist, Center for Nursing Leadership (CNL) is responsible for the development of programs and initiatives to meet the needs of nursing leaders, which includes novice, developing, and executive level perioperative nurses. The Perioperative Education Specialist is accountable for the content of CNL programs and initiatives to ensure that AORN continues to be the indispensable resource for nursing leaders. The Perioperative Education Specialist will identify the unmet needs of this market, and work collaboratively with members of cross functional teams to develop, implement, and evaluate new programs and resources.

  • Conducts environmental scans, focus groups or surveys to ascertain needs of the targeted nursing leadership audience
  • Responsible for developing and/or securing products and services aimed at meeting the needs of the novice, developing, and executive level perioperative nurses
  • Understands customer needs, marketplace dynamics, key trends, and the competitive landscape
  • Works collaboratively with functional teams to ensure relevancy and return on investment
  • Encourages nursing leaders to achieve an incremental increase in AORN’s membership base through influence within their facilities and communities
  • In collaboration with the Health Care Organization and the Industry Segments, develops strategies for leveraging the influence of the nursing leadership audience to segment clients with a goal of increasing sales of AORN’s products, services and increased opportunities for partnerships
  • Develops metrics to measure performance and customer satisfaction for CNL education program content. Reports metrics to AORN internal and external stakeholders at appropriate intervals.
  • Applies critical thinking, creativity and effective communication skills to convey content objectives and status of operational plan
  • Works closely with the line of business leaders, segment leaders and support teams to ensure coordinated effort and to leverage synergies and opportunities that might exist for content development
  • Collaborates with the AORN Foundation to prepare grant proposals to fund resources for the Center for Nursing Leadership
  • Participates in the development of the annual budget; conducts research and data analysis for new product development initiatives
  • Based on gap analysis, leads content development of products and resources for nursing leaders and strategic partnerships.ABOUT YOU:Ideal candidates will have:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, Master’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Education required
    • Experience in healthcare management, and/or project management highly desirable
    • Experience with adult education, product management or organizational development a plus
    • Previous experience working on teams and in a matrix environment desirable
    • Knowledge and familiarity with recognized methodologies for addressing the needs of the adult learner
    • Results-oriented; proven track record of implementing key strategies in support of meeting a business plan
    • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and team building skills, and proven ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
    • Creative thinking, mental agility, sound judgment and problem solving skills with a high level of business acumen
    • Strategic thinker with ability to articulate strategy verbally and in a written document
    • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
    • Effective time management skills, with strong organization and prioritization abilities
    • Acts innovatively and takes appropriate risks, yet also fosters collaboration by aligning plan’s objectives with other team objectives
    • Works and acts with a sense of urgency
